BELGIUM TRIP// Bruges, Gent and Brussels

Lo and behold - the photos of mine and Nefeli's Belgium trip during our one week holiday that I never told you about! Are you surprised? Eh? Neither am I. This was bound to happen seeing as we both had been planning this since Christmas. We stayed in Belgium for a total of 5 days and 4 nights and in those 5 days we travelled to three cities - Bruges, Gent and Brussels (hence, the title of this post). Nefeli's mom drove up with us to Bruges where we stayed in a super lovely apartment right in the middle of town. The apartment had super duper high ceilings which I LOVED and it was quite spacious in general. And not to mention cute! I will now describe what we did each day, sort of like a diary, and talk you through the photos. Hope you enjoy! kisses
BRUGES
We arrived in Bruges on the 11th February at around dinner time. We settled in and I was quickly shown the apartment tour. We were quite tired from the ride so we just decided to stay in and have dinner home. Nefeli and I were already in comfy and cosy clothes the whole day so we didn't even really have to get in our PJs seeing as we were already kind of..in them, haha. Then we proceeded to go to sleep after having walked her adorable dog Caramel and not to mention our routine long talks.
Morning time! Every morning we went to this cute little bakery for bread and pastries. One word: delicious. Don't the boxes kind of look like the Ladurée ones? I certainly think so.
Waiting outside with Caramel and Nefeli for Nefeli's mama to come outside Prestige with the goodies that we will have soon devoured.
We took a nice walk in the city of Bruges, visiting lots of tourist spots, walking around the canal and visiting some shops in the end as well.
Bootjes! For all you non-Flemish/Dutch speaking people, that means boats. The boats pictured in particular are the ones that Nefeli's family owns! We ended up getting a free ride later on. It pays to have connections, huh? Oh man, if you only saw the glares of the people who had to pay and stand in the line. Totally understandable of course, would have done the same had I been in their position.
My choice of outfit. Something I'd be comfortable and warm in - that's my priority when walking on pavement for hours on end.
Another photo minus the sunnies. It doesn't show up well in the photo but it was quite sunny in fact!
Yet another photo in the same spot.. Is it visible that I got a trim? It was very needed, I had literally too many split ends to even begin to count them and it looked quite dull, damaged and dry at the ends.
The beautiful Nefeli aka Belgium trip companion.
At the bootjes with a beautiful backdrop.
Cute little building squeezed between more plain buildings. I'm certain it has a name, but my tour guide *cough* Nefeli *cough* wasn't very efficient in teaching me the names of all the buildings, heheh..
Another beautiful building. Love the statues at the top and the gold accents.
Love the contrast between these two buildings that I still do not know the names of. Blame it on the guide! ;)
You could get a hore carriage ride throughout the town of Bruges - so adorable. Seeing as it was Valentine's day the next day, I suggested that Nefeli and I have a carriage ride to be ''cute'' and ''romantic'' but she wasn't too keen on the idea. *cries*
Nefsiii! As you can see, we were both similarly dressed; black coat with fur rim around the hood, dark jeans, boots, knit sweater, scarf and bag.
Literally the only thing both Nefeli and I bought that day. Nothing else caught our eyes! Now that I think about it.. probably this and a pair of Tweezerman tweezers was the only thing I bought except for food stuffs.
Precious Caramelo sleeping. News flash: her name is NOT Caramelo, but in fact just Caramel. I was shocked when Nefeli told me that her name was Caramel as I'd been calling her Caramelo since the day I met her, hahaha.. They still make fun of me for that.
GENT
Selfie shot 1: before leaving to Gent, couldn't resist doing what we do best - selfies and fooling around.
Selfie shot 2: not a very in-focus photo but whatever!
Moments after we had gotten out of the car to begin exploring what Gent had to offer in shopping, we were stopped by a girl who is the streetstyle photographer for In For Luxe and were asked to have our photo taken. We were quite flattered at this point. It was really funny because literally 5 seconds before she had asked us, Nefeli was saying to me how she felt that we were underdressed, especially in UGGS, etc. and look what happened - she said she especially liked the fact that we both were sporting UGG boots. Surprisingly, unlike Luxembourg, not very many people wore UGG boots there..
We got tired of window shopping and decided to defrost at Starbucks. We spent a few good hours there and afterwards Lalenya, Nefeli's sister, had finished her classes at uni and was joining us and afterwards going home with us.
Our yummy ''lunch''. Nefeli opted for the carrot cake (definitely not my favourite) whereas I went for a croque monsier and we both topped it off with chai tea lattes. Yummy!
When we drove back to Bruges, we had a delicious Valentine's dinner at an Italian restaurant and then called it a day. The waiter loved teasing me, saying that there was no more pizza left and afterwards saying that he forgot my pizza. He was joking of course. Rule number one of being friends with me: don't. joke. about. food.
BRUSSELS
This was taken moments after we had gotten off of the train and were on our way to the Yves Saint Laurent exhibition. Unfortunately we weren't allowed to take photos there, so I don't have anything to show you from there. If you are interested in fashion and like the work of Yves, definitely check it out while it's still there! It was interesting to see his pieces of work throught out the decades and his early sketches.

GOING BACK
Beautiful chandelier in the apartment in Bruges. So pretty and fancy.
Overall, I had SO much fun and would definitely love to do a trip similar to this with Nefeli again. Her family was very welcoming and super sweet. Nef, (I know you're reading this, don't lie) thank you for adopting me for those few days once again. Love you! ♥♥♥
